Sony Dominates At E3 2015

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is taking place from June 15 to 19 in Los Angeles. Quite a few old faces and some new ones have already made appearances at the electronics show this June, and Sony‘s presentation is on a lot of gamers’ and marketers’ minds moving forward based on the announcements made by the company at the expo. Here is only some of the exciting news released by the game developer on Monday:

Final Fantasy VII: Remake
An obvious fan favorite is Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII: Remake, which Sony officially announced during its presentation Monday. According to Kotaku, the company issued a news release stating that the game is currently in production, so there is no release date as of yet. The trailer showed updated graphics and characters from the original game, including Tifa and Cloud, and also stated that the game would be played on Playstation 4.

The Last Guardian
This game will conclude the trilogy of “Ico” and “Shadow of the Colossus,” which were released in 2001 and 2005, respectively. According to The Verge, The Last Guardian was originally announced in 2009, but troubles in production, including the departure of the game’s director in 2011, resulted in numerous supposed cancelations and delays. However, it looks like the game will finally be released, instilling excitement in fans of the first two games. Sony set a tentative release date of 2016 and said it would be playable on Playstation 4.

Playstation Vue
The Verge reported that Sony‘s Internet TV service, Playstation Vue, will also be getting an expansion. Sony announced during its presentation that the service, which is currently only available in select areas, will be expanding to two new cities. Customers in San Francisco and Los Angeles will get to use the service and will also take advantage of a new “a la carte system” by subscribing to specific channels and without buying a multi-channel bundle.

Since 1995, E3 has taken place each year at the beginning of the summer. It provides games developers an opportunity to showcase new technologies and titles, and allows consumers to see what will soon be available for purchase. According to IGN, the show began in 1995 with over 50,000 attendees, but in 2007 the number of attendees was limited to 10,000.
