Life Habits Of Major Tech People

When you work in the tech realm, everything is different. It begins with the dress code. People who work at startups aren't buttoning up when they go to work – instead, they're taking their favorite graphic T out of the laundry and rolling into the office. Simply put, the tech realm functions differently than any industrial sector out there. Why is that? One key reason is that the people at the top have an unorthodox approach to most things, and that trickles down into the rest of the tech population. So we thought we'd take this post to highlight some of the life habits of some extremely influential tech leaders. Whether or not you choose to emulate these behaviors is up to you:

  • Set aside trampoline time: According to Curbed, Bill Gates' opulent mansion wouldn't be complete without one curious asset: a trampoline room. This is a room with a 20-foot ceiling, a room that Gates presumably retreats to in times of anxiety and careful thought to just … bounce bounce bounce! Because Gates does a good job of guarding his private life, there's no word on how much time he spends on the trampoline – or what kind of productive ideas arise from it. But considering Gates is a pretty reasoned guy, there has to be something to all that bouncing.
  • Eat cookies for breakfast: Business giant Mark Cuban got his start as a salesperson for PC software and later made inroads as a software reseller. Today, he owns the Dallas Mavericks and Landmark Theaters, among other massive business ventures. So what's the habit that makes Cuban the enterprise titan he is today? These days, it's cookies for breakfast. As Cuban explained in an interview, he's a huge consumer of Alyssa's cookies, which, according to the company's website, are "healthy cookies without hydrogenated oils, margarine, additives, and preservatives." Taking a look at the ingredients in the cookies, it's clear why Cuban's such a big proponent: For delicious morsels like these, they're surprisingly low in sugar and high in the good stuff like protein and fiber.

"I live off of these cookies," Cuban said. "Literally that is all I will eat anymore."

So there you have it. Buy a trampoline, eat cookies, and wait for your millions to pour in. That's sounds like a good equation to us.
